Starting problem clicking noise

Default Starting problem clicking noise

Okay so when we turn the key over it just clicks but its not the battery and we just used the car like 5-6 minutes ago to go to the store came home and tried to start it again and it didnt work. anybody got any quick ideas?


its a base model rsx 02

you sure it's not the battery because it sounds like battery to me.... clicking usually signifies weak power.


turn your headlights on and try turning it over... if they dim it's battery, if they don't it's another issue like a bad starter.

Okay i'll check that what if i push start it and it starts would that mean its still the starter?

no that could still be either or because now your car is running on your alternator only if it's a bad battery

what if the car dies off losing all electrical power but it starts when you push it only to die if you do not keep the engine revving at stoplights, is it a battery or alternator issue?

most likely a dead battery and when it's running it's running solely off the alternator. When you're idling the alternator isn't making enough power to keep the car alive. Get a new battery before you fry that poor alternator.

Thanks, got a new one, old one had only 8 amps when I pulled onto store.
