Default S-1 trans in 90 civic, speedometer sending unit from civic or acura?

My speedo stopped working a few weeks ago. After taking the speeo sending unit out, I noticed the gear on it was chewed up. I don't know if it has caused any internal damage to the gear it meshes with, I cannot see the other gear inside the trans. So I am going to replace the unit, it doesn't spin very easily making me think it is defective. Now the question is do I get an acura piece or a honda piece and what the heck it it called? I looked at a Honda online dealer parts catalog and can't find it. Anyone have any experience with this?

It's called a vehicle speed sensor or VSS. Get a 90-91 Teg one.

I thought VSS was the eletrical counterpart and the mechanical was reffered to as a different name...?
