Default D16A6 removal, not sure what this is

We're getting our motor ready to come out and we've come across these wires going into the transmission. It has a hex shaped bottom but it doesn't seem to fit any of our wrenches. It also seems very rusted and thin so we're afraid of breaking it. Is it just supposed to screw off or is there something else that needs to be done. Thanks!

i concur, reverse light switch.

you can get these barrel like connectors to splice into the wires. the reason this is a good idea is because the wires are soldered to the sensor.

Reverse switch. Leave it in the transmission case and unplug it.
