Default Ran in the rain once, and this past weekend I get two days of it.

There is something I figured out that might help others with Azenis tires. My set-up:

Koni Yellow Sports, Custom Rate Ground Control Coilovers (350f/400r) dropped 2" front, 2" rear, Neuspeed Rear Upper Strut Bar, Neuspeed Rear Lower Strut Bar, 15x7" Kosei K1s 45mm offset, 3mm spacers, 205/50x15" Azenis (about 3mm of tread left). 1.5 degree negative camber front, 2.2 rear. 0 toe all around.

In the dry I'm used to running 1 turn front 1.75 turns rear and 42f/36r.

For the rain I started with 40f/35r. I dropped to 39f/35r and prolly could have gone down to 39f/34r, but I didnt have anymore runs. The car handle great from there.

hey mike

i seemed to find about the same thing with my Azenis, started higher (42f/42r) and dropped them down to 39f/39r and it helped alot, but since yeasterday was my first run in the new car, i really have nothing to compair it with.

on another note, that was the first time i have ever raced on a wet corse, and it was probally the most fun i've ever had

Yeah the last time I ran in the rain (besides this weekend) was back in July 2000 at the ProSolo in harrisburg. I was still a novice with a brand new car

wow, you have a big difference between front and back pressures. On my kuhmos and almost an identical set-up and I would run 39F/38R.
But I am having problems dialing in my hoosiers. I have way too much oversteer.
So this time I am going to start out at .75turn front/1.25Rear and Pressures 38F/34R. Any opinions?

if you're getting too much oversteer, soften the back up a bit, maybe even go a couple psi lower in the rear.

Yeah, The morning was a blast when it was dry. With having to work twice I didn't get to switch off the hoosiers for the afternoon. Needless to say it was REALLY slippery out there. May have been slow but it sure was a lot of fun! I think the first straight after the launch was the only placy on the course where I wasn't counter steering!

Sorry I didn't get to meet you Mike but it was a hectic day...

Matt congrats on getting your entry fees back (taking 5th in PAX).

I just wish I would have cleaned up in the morning instead of driving like a schmuck.

My Azenis handled fairly well with the rain, it was the sand that was throwing me everywhere. That and the painted lines on the left section before the pivot cone. The combination of the paint and asphalt got my tail to come around every round

If there's something I've learned using a pyrometer is that the Civic line likes to use a 5psi difference between front and rear. With my newer suspension setup it's now about 4psi difference.

With your setup .75 turn front and 1.25 rear with those pressures I would also drop the rears a bit. Sounds like the tires are too hard and with the higher settings for the rear shocks the back end will give away quick.

Thanks alot... You were right on my heels!!! Could've gone either way! Needless to say, if you agree or not, you looked good out there. I think you should've gone to second in the first straight but that's just me, and I don't know your car as well as you do.

I know what you mean. I coned my fastest run of the day. Though, you should have seen me drive the weekend before last... Coned every run AND managed to turn the car off with my knee during the middle of a run. Talk about disappointment.

Yeah... the lot is pretty sandy. I got sprayed in the face with sand going around the pin cone. Add some water and things get very tricky!!!

that was my favorite section. Come flying out of the sweeper, Small lift, plant the gas and counter steer like crazy!!! The car would settle down just in time to break for the pin. Too much fun!!!

I hope you make it out for some more events! ...or I might have to come out there!

i got to run again in the rain this weekend. first time in the rain in quite a while. i actually went with almost he identical setup on my car. first run had major brain farts. second run i focused better, drove like i needed to, but spun 3 FRICKIN TIMES!!!!!!!!!! i've never spun more then once in a run. needless to say i was quite agitated, as the car wasn't responding at all right up till it would oversteer. so i gave up on the "soft" rain setting and went back to my dry setup. 40f/45r, full stiff front, 1.25 rear on the koni's. went out, set fastest time in class. i continued to improve my times and set the second fastest raw time for a real car. (a crx on dirt stockers went 2 tenths quicker) it was funny because i let someone else drive my car and they could barely keep it straight with that setup. just offering a different setup idea. i didn't think it would work, thought i would be sliding everywhere, but it was drivable, whereas the other setup wasn't at all.
