The price has gone way up since I bought mine. It's something like $280.00 USD. They are replacement gears.

The factory H22 oil pump gear is brittle, often shattering or easily scorching if you start adding a very light flywheel with a lightweight crank pulley, along with attempting to turn higher RPMs. They are also know to shatter when great amounts of horsepower are added, somewhere above 500HP in most cases.
Unless your removing a lot of weight from the rotating assembly, which negatively affects the harmonics, or shooting for a very high HP number, the gear isn't needed....BUT, it is very good insurance. Yes i've purchased one myself.

is it considerably lighter than the stock unit???
how much does it weigh... I was going all motor without any balance shafts they suggest it for high reving 8000-8200rpm...

The factory gears are cast aluminum units while the ProDrives are billet aluminum, not 100% sure of the grade. Weight differences should be slight if not negligible.
ProDrive gears are billet steel, not alluminum. The OEM gears are sintered cast steel.
To tell you the truth the ProDrive gears have gotten a fairly bad rap lately.

There's alot of information here. Some salesguy from ProDrive came in to defend ProDrives honour.

When I bought mine they were selling for $180.00 USD with a 10% discount from ProDrive to Honda-Tech members. I don't think that discount holds anymore and I don't know if anyone knows why they've uped their price to $295.00. The guy I talked to was named John and he's on the board as prodrive-john. Guy liked to talk and he was going on for about half an hour on all the drag events he was dealing with and machining and manufacturing processes for the products they sell. Those are the best guys to find.

Just thought i'd add that Melling makes a complete oil pump for the H series. I know for sure that the Melling pumps are the best upgrade you can make as far as air-cooled Volkswagens go since i've used them in the past, but I haven't dealt with them since I started playing with Hondas. For now i'd highly reccomend the ProDrive gear.
That would very a good amount between cars depending on the ambient temperature, the type and weight of oil used, and what your idle rpm is first thing in the morning.
