1993 Civic won't start.
i was driving my 93 civic and all of a sudden it started making a terrible noise, it sounded like something was slipping, maybe timing belt or something. now it only starts sometimes. here is a video of the noise that it is making when i try to start it.

And dont ever put your hands on the distributor while trying to start it unless you wanna get paralyzed for a few seconds lol if you would of grounded you other hand on metal you would had a funny scare
I agree with Goin', sounds like tha solenoid gone bad with that clicking sound. But if it wont go when in drive you prolly have deeper issues. Does it stay running while in drive but wont go anywhere?
Ahh yeah. Good looking out I was trying to feel where the click was coming from. So is the starter solenoid very hard to replace yourself? i install car stereo and work on cars all day long. i just don't know much about engines. removing parts and hoses ect. to get to the starter solenoid is no problem. just curious how long of a job it should be and where it's located?
also once that is replaced should the car drive normally? even when the car would run it was hesitant to move when in gear.

thats the thing, 99% of the time the solenoid is bad. can you rebuild the solenoid, yes but 99% dont know how to rebuild the solenoid so everyone just replaces the whole starter.
i wish i knew some place to buy the brushes for the solenoid to rebuild it

this is alot cheaper than a whole new $150 starter. jump the starter just to make sure the starter itself is good, if good replace the solenoid.
will the solenoid provided in the link above work, idk i cant walk anymore so i cant get outside to try it first

You could do it. Its right below the distributor(the thing you had your hands on). And its only 2 bolts,3 including the power cable. Just replace the whole thing, replacing solenoids are cheap but sorta
Some good info, most is not so good and a lot of assuming.
So first thing to do is see if it is a current problem, assuming batt. is at full or close to full charge, leave the door open so the dome light stays on, watch the dome light as you try and start the car, if the dome light goes out, [or dims a lot] at the same time you hear the solenoid "click" it is a current issue, redo your main grounds, it is a common problem.
If the dome light does not go out, [or dim significantly] then it is a good bet it is the high current contact, as civickiller mentions and linked.
If you can install car audio you can fix your starter, here is a DIY with pics... https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/fix-your-starter-%245-%2410-no-special-tools-3043958/. 94
