CRX Not Charging/:
I just joined this website to recieve help on my car
I have a 1989 Honda CRX Si that I just replace the original D16A6(Needed new piston rings) With a rebuilt D16Y8 and runs great except I am having problems with the charging system
The battery is good( I even put it on a different honda and had no problem what so ever, and I tested it and charged it at O'Riellys) I had put the original alternator that was in the D16A6 but something happened I think it was over charging and it burned out my amp, radio, headlight fuses and it even burned out the ecu fuse and it burned out the computer as well
I replaced the alternator and now it isnt charging what so ever I think its the ELD but im not sure. At idle the battery light turns on. Once I accelerate it goes away. Also when I was driving the car I downshifted to pass someone and at maybe 5,000 Rpm somewhere around there. The car completely shut off and I checked and it burned out the 60A Main fuse in the hood fuse box. I replaced it and again it blew out the fuse at high Rpms. Can someone please help me with some information. I think all of this is happening with the chaging system.(Not sure if this is useful) It currently has OBD0(Original harness) I currently do not have the wires that go in the firewall side on the block unplugged because the D16Y8 block doesn't have a place for the plugs that the D16A6 has.

i would check your harness that goes under the manifold possible short to ground and check the main fuse box under hood if possible swap it out with a known good fuse box for the eld .................good luck
Thanks, I checked all the wiring and it was good it gave me an oppurtunity to relocate the wiring to on top of the Y8 manifold, I did manage to find the problem and it was a faulty new alternator so warranty swapped it out and tested the starter to be sure that it worked and now my crx is now working and running. hasnt died on me yet but im keeping my eyes opened
