Default Tires for 400whp

Looking for some opinions on this....

My weekend car will complete and on the road in about 2 weeks.

Car is a 93 hatchback. Will be making AT LEAST 380whp. Stock axles and tokico shocks and the good ol' ebay coil overs.

I will be going to the track a fair amount and looking for a good tire.

Suggestions/opinions on tire size and should I look into drag radials or slicks.

For street use I will have 15" wheels with some BFG G-force tires.

But willing to buy a set of 'track wheels and tires' - Just want to be sure on size and should I look into Drag radials or slicks.

THANKS!

Well, I can say as well as some others that Nitto Neo Gens work really well for a real street tire. We run 205-50-15" and they can hook decent on and off the track. Slicks will obviously work better, but for what they are and the power levels you are looking at these tires can work fine.

slicks for the track and never look back. i used to play the drag radial game for years i was stuck in the 12's. first pass on slicks was 11.7 and i havent looked back.

for the street use boost by gear and those bfg's you have

Thanks for the replies.

Transmission is a stock b16 with an LSD from a gsr

See I wasn't sure on slicks since I'm using stock trans and stock axles...didn't want to be breaking axles left and right and/or damaging trans.

What size slicks should I look into?

225-50-15 MT et streets here and love them for the street. As for the track slicks will give you less headaches as far as breaking parts.

Youll break axles more on big drag radials than you will with slicks. Slicks have a nice soft sidewall, give a good cushion. Big drag radials have no give. Just swap to slicks at the track, and youll be set.
