Default Check engine light

I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4 cyl. with about 98.8K miles on it. The check engine light went on recently and I took it to Autozone they said I have error code P1271, the mechanic there thinks it is variable valve timing (bank 1), he isn't 100% sure because there isn't a listing for Honda on his code checker. What do you guys say the problem is?

That trouble code is invalid for your model year.

Try to get the trouble code read by a different OBD-II scanner/reader.

Even AAMCO will do free reading of trouble codes. I recommend that's all you get from them for now, don't let them use that as a ploy to get you to pay for something you didn't want.

I've seen this thread before.....

Anyway, check the oil level or have it changed. Most of the time this is the casue for the code. If still there, more testing will be needed.
