2006 TL timing belt info and part numbers
I'm looking for some insight into specific parts and part numbers between the J32A3 V6 in the TL versus other Honda V6 motors such as the J35A4 V6 in my 2004 Honda Pilot.
Some background. I have a relative with an '06 TL and I am going to replace her timing belt and all related components. This includes the belt, water pump, autotensioner, autotensioner pulley, idler pulley, crank and cam oil seals.
She now has 87K miles and I expect to do the job sometime this summer as she gets closer to the 105K limit. The car is in Colorado so I would play it safe and change it earlier than 105K due to lots of daily driving and the temperature swings over the past 6 years.
I have tons of mechanical experience building Civics and Integras. I also work on my Pilot and have done that timing belt job.
So when I researched all the timing belt component part numbers between the TL and the Pilot, the part numbers are different. I also find the Acura part numbers are much more expensive than the Honda counterparts.
So are all the timing belt components under the timing belt covers from the 3.5L V6 100% interchangeable with the 3.2L V6 in the TL despite the different part numbers?
I've asked several Acura service departments and they claim they don't know for obvious reasons.
Also, I understand that the oil dipstck tube on the J32A3 is not required to be removed unlike the J35A4 motor........is this correct?
I also understand the J32A3 motor uses a single belt to run the A/C, power steering, and the alternator??? The J35A4 uses one belt for the A/C and alternator, and a second belt for the P/S pump.
