Default ZC Trans question

Will an 88-91 DOHC ZC bolt up to an 87 Teg manual trans?

Default Re: ZC Trans question

not all of the transmission to engine attaching bolts line up - one is off - it is the bottom bolt on the rear of the engine, which is the one that goes thru the block into the transmission - you can drill it out and elongate the hole in the block so that you can get the bolt into the transmission - the Integra starter mounts a little different from the ZC starter - it doesn't use the long bolt that goes thru the transmission into the end of the block - you can drill out the hole in the transmission so that you can use the long attaching bolt - the Integra transmission uses an intermediate axle shaft and equal length axles - the Integra intermediate shaft will not bolt to the DOHC ZC block - you would have to use the JDM DOHC ZC M/T intermediate shaft - it is the only one that will bolt up to the ZC block - you would also then need 90-93 Integra axles, if you had the OBD0 DOHC ZC intermediate shaft or you would need 94 and up Integra axles, if you had the OBD1 DOHC ZC intermediate shaft - you cannot use the stock unequal length axles (diameter at transmission too small) nor can you use the 86-89 Integra axles (too short) - the Integra transmission will not bolt into the 88-91 CRX/Civic without fabricating all new mounts - the mounts are completely different - the 86-89 Integra used a 200mm diameter clutch and matching flywheel - you would need to use the Integra flywheel and clutch as the Integra transmission doesn't use a pilot bearing in the flywheel to support the input shaft - it was supported by the flywheel - the Integra input shaft will not fit into the CRX/Civic pilot bearing (shaft diameter too large) and you can't leave the bearing out as the hole in the flywheel is too large for the input shaft - trying to use a larger 212mm clutch like the 90 and up can also be a problem as some of the pressure plates will hit the transmission case inside the clutch housing

Thanks jli. I've got the trans in the car already. So I can make that obd0 dohc zc bolt up to the trans and I'll have to use the d16a1 clutch and flywheel? Then I need to use the axles from a 90-93 teg? what about hubs? I have the 87 teg hubs in the car.

Actually I've just realized that I can probably go a lil different route with little or no hassle. (Slight power decrease but who cares. I just want to drive it.) Does anyone know where I can find an 88-89 D16A1? I would need the motor and the ECU.
