Default '91 Prelude Air Conditioning trouble (pick-up sensor)

I just got this car a few months ago so when it started to get hot I had my air converted to 134 and recharged at the Honda dealership (I didn't know it the a/c even worked so I wanted them to do it) The a/c works now but only for a few minutes before the red light on the a/c button comes on. The Honda placed checked it out and they said that it is a faulty pick-up sensor. Honda doesn't make the sensor anymore and neither does anyone else. I have read that you can bypass the sensor pretty easily BUT I can't find and good instructions on how to do it. I really DO NOT want to guy a new air compressor just because of this sensor. So any instructions and/or other advice would be super helpful.
