2003 Odyssey - Brake Pad Replacement

2003 Odyssey - Brake Pad Replacement
Doing all four corners, started in the rear.
Wheels off, pads replaced, ...
...but I can't get the piston ring to go back, thus can't put the calipers back on.
How do I get it pressed back in? This is the first time in almost a decade I've done brakes, what did I forget?
I've read to use vise grips, but don't have a size that would work, ...and they've have to be some pretty freakin' huge vise grips.
Still on jack stands in the garage, TIA
