2008 Civic A/C issues
I'm driving a 2008 Civic with about 138,500 miles on it. I tend to drive with the A/C on year-round.
My A/C seems to be cutting in and out now that warm/ hot weather has arrived in the Northeast U.S. For a while I get good cold through the system (could be an hour/ could be 15 minutes/ could be all day), then it just begins to disappear. If I turn the A/C off for maybe 2-3 minutes, the A/C usually comes back... again, for a while (15-30 minutes). After 2-3 such cycles, I get no cold at all. About a month ago I was having some troubles which resulted in a new alternator. In the midst of that problem I experienced what I was later told was my A/C pressure blowing off because it was overheating. The A/C coolant was replaced/ topped off at that point. I have not had any blow-off since... just regular cycles with no cold produced. Oh... the A/C relay was replaced at that time as well.
Ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Wasn't the air/mix motor.
I brought it into Honda and they diagnosed internal damage in the Compressor.
For $1,800 they will fix it nicely. For $100.00 they will re-belt the system to bypass the Compressor. Let's see now... $100.00 or $1,800.00 in a very high mileage car (just broke 140,000 in a nearly paid-for 4-year old car), whose transmission has begun to 'clunk' when shifting out of park or neutral. I wonder?
Thank for trying though... I would have preferred an air/mix motor I think.
