Default Question about f22 Transmissions

is there a difference between the f22b1 and f22b2 trannys? i have a tranny from a 92 accord(non vtec) on my 94 EX(vtec) and its slow as hell we did auto to manual and this is the only tranny i could find at the time... im wondering if i can just get a tranny off a newer f22 or do i have to buy one off a 94-97 VTEC f22b1? basically im wondering if the ratios are the same from the b1 and b2 transmissions

USDM F22A1 90-93 ACCORD DX/LX COUPE/SEDAN:

Diff Type & Tranny Codes:
STD Only = MPT3

3.307 1
1.809 2
1.230 3
0.903 4
0.705 5
4.062 final

5th gear 195/60 R15
70mph = 2782 rpm
80mph = 3180 rpm

USDM F22A4/A6 90-93 ACCORD EX COUPE/SEDAN:

Diff Type & Tranny Codes:
STD Only = H2U5

3.307 1
1.809 2
1.185 3
0.870 4
0.685 5
4.062 final

5th gear 195/60 R15
70mph = 2703 rpm
80mph = 3090 rpm

Third and fourth are taller gears in the 90-93 EX, so that may be what you are feeling as a difference. If you really want to improve your acceleration, get a transmission from a Prelude(H22) this has shorter gears. At the cost of higher cruisng rpm.

well the car was automatic... i did an auto to manual and it feels significantly slower now... the guy that did the swap said he forgot to put the abs "rings" (sensors maybe?) back on my axles and that vtec wasnt engaging because of this... it definitely feels like it has no crossover like it did before... when it was auto you could feel and hear it crossover when it kicked in...

No you wont. In my eyes they are the same
If you want a faster tranny a h23 tranny will be a good pic.

You would be much better off running a manual ECU with a manual trans. Not quite sure what an Automatic TCU is going to show you?

FYI, VTEC is not enabled by anything ABS related. It's the vehicle speed sensor connected to the transmission that relays the vehicle speed. Do you know it they hooked that up properly during the swap?

If you are having a VTEC engagement issue you should test the VTEC related sensors and there wiring. Is the CEL on?

auto ECU works you have to make it think its in park and leave the shifter switch in the car but you cant connect the auto harness to the manual tranny so you will have no vtec... its great for gas mileage but horrible for power

What transmission did you buy??

Those gears arent exactly that much shorter, I highly doubt youll notice anything.

I bet you just dont know how to drive it. A manual will not be slower then a auto.

right... you have no idea what youre talking about... the car redlined way higher when it was auto and it wasnt hitting the rev limiter at 5k... your ignorance is unwanted in my posts...

anyways i found out that with the auto computer still wired up the car has no idea whats going on... right now ive bought a 5spd ECU im about to put in

i read on another forum you have to wire the plug that went to the auto shifter for reverse lights, ignition release, etc... anyone got a diagram or how to on this? cant find it in search

Youre so ignorant, read before you make yourself look like an idiot.

His VTEC isnt working therefore taking the non-VTEC portion of the cam to revs it wasnt meant for, and hes still using an automatic computer.

So yes, an auto can be faster than a manual.
