bump....does my issue have something to do with the fast idle valve? also my speedometer is not working but the plugs on the VSS are all plugged in what could be the issue there?

Yeah, check the faq's on how to clean out the IACV and FITV. You will need to open the top of the FITV and use a pair of needle nose to hold the screw while turning the body to push the screw in.

This normally clears the high idle problem. It won't cost a thing so I'd test it and see. It should go down to around 750-800.

^^^^^^I agree. Get u a can of carb cleaner, spray it, remove the black gunk(if any), re-install. That's it!

when the iacv filter gets partially blocked it only lowers idle it normally doesn't raise it. Whatever you do don't spray inside the iacv as the seals are very sensitive to the carb cleaner and will swell up and ruin the iacv. Just lightly spray the filter piece of its dirty to free the dirt.

Also, when you do the FITV, you will be tempted to hold the base and use needle nose pliers to turn the plastic piece inside. Don't do it that way. What you do is hold the plastic piece with the needle nose and turn the FITV itself. You'll find its much easier that way. If you do it the other way the plastic piece tends to strip a bit.
