Honda Prelude 1991 b20a9 rod knock
Hello,
Its my first post here
.
Ive been noticing a knock especially when the car is at low rpm (800-1000). So ive been watching some youtube honda rod knock videos and ive made conclusion that its rod knock, because the sound is very similair. But theres few things which i dont understand, if its rod knock, then why sometimes when engine gets warm it goes away? Sometimes it doesnt go away, but more often it does. Also, yesterday for instance i cold started the engine, and the knock was pretty loud, and it didnt go away fully when it got warmer. Then when i drived home, i heard a pretty strong knock, so i was starting to think that i should not use that car anymore before repairing engine. But today i cold started motor again, and the knock was barely noticeable and when the engine got warm (not fully warm, perhaps 40-50 C) the knock went away. Also, sometimes rod is knocking not only at low rpms (800-1000), but also on higher rpms. What could be the reason for these? Perhaps the rod isnt screwed fully? Or maybe its not rod knock, but as i said thats the only similair sound ive heard in youtube videos. Its knocking frequency is higher than the usual engine cycles. Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

Okay so i disassembled the lower part of engine until i reached rods. As you can see from the video one rod knocks, but only when you move it in sides, others also have a little bit less movement in sides, but it doesnt give that metal on metal sound. You can also see that the knocking rod also has brighter color than the others, because it is not original. Im asking is this knocking dangerous? Because all rod bearings are fine, and the problem is with higher part so i need to also take the engine head and theres a lot of work and money, which i dont have at the moment. So if this knocking isnt dangerous (assuming it only knocks sideways) i will just leave it as it is, and after some time when ill be back in financially better situation ill repair it or will do a swap, but now i need a car for some time and dont have money.
Heres a link to the video:

Time to take it out and replace the bearings, have the crankshaft mic'ed and then propersized bearings to replace, and do a micro-polish if necessary.
x2, and i wouldnt drive it. Its f%8ked went moneys tight,
but it really needs to be repaired.
but it really needs to be repaired.
