Short video from a pass made on nitto neo gens.
A friend and I took his car to a little event at a backwoods track yesterday and won our class.
I along with some others believe that Nitto Neo Gens work awesome for what they are on a street Honda. On a completely unprepped 1/8th mile track we managed a best of 8.2 @ 87mph with a full interior 92 Dx hatch. Not only did we get close to the 7's with a regular old tire we also won our class and took home some $$$$. Personally, I think it is awesome that we were able to run those times on this particular track on real street radials.

gringotegra on here went mid 11's on a set of these with his turbo Integra. His 1/8th ET was something like an 8.1-8.2 with a speed around 100mph.
The best 60' cut on these yesterday was a 2.0x, and like I said the track had no prep. In the beginning there was very little tack on the track. Later in the day I did see one person spray a little VHT down, which did make the track feel a little better, however, no one saw any positive results later in the day.
When I had the car I bolted a set of 22" slicks to the car and went a 7.91 @ 88mph and toasted the clutch. At the time it was essentially a stock clutch in the car. Now it has a CC stage 5.
I can say that the car has gotten faster now that there are some miles on the engine. When I put it together the engine had a fresh rebuild. I bought the engine thinking it was a good running engine, turns out it was not. After replacing 6 bent valves and the pistons the engine was ready to go again. It now has about 20k miles on it since the rebuild and it feels faster. The track times are also improving. Also, when I put the car the car together it had a Quaife LSD. The tranny developed a crack in the bell housing area and started leaking fluid. The new owner bought another tranny and never had me swap in the Quaife, so these new runs were done with an open diff.
so it did 12.5 on slicks before with more mph. now on street tires and less mph you think that pass might have been a low 12?
doesnt add up. not hating the car is obviously super strong for what it is. The whole full interior and car seat thing doesnt mean much to me my times are in an ek with power windows and everything it was over 2500 with driver lol.

The only way to really find out is take it to a 1/4 track and see what it'll do.

Comparison from it's best 1/4 time on slicks and best 1/8th time on Neo Gens. I know there are a lot of variables between the two. The slick pass was done on a lot nicer well kept track for one. Earlier on that particular day he did run a 12.7 on slicks with a 2.0 60' the mph for that pass was 108.75.
23" Slicks on Lensos:
60' - 1.822
1/8th - 8.071
mph - 85.95
1/4 - 12.594
mph - 108.74
This pass was done at Virginia Motorsports Park. First time he had ever driven this car on slicks and he was a little apprehensive.
Neo Gens pass:
60' - 2.070
1/8th - 8.294
mph - 87.61
This pass was done at Natural Bridge Dragstrip with no track prep at all.
Looks like that if he ever made it to a nice 1/4 track it would run possibly mid 12's around 110mph on Neo Gens.

The trap is probably a few mph higher on street tires due to lack of traction. If you were to get the 60ft down to around what it 60'd on slicks, the trap would more than likely be about the same as on the slick passes.
yeah, we think it would be really cool if we could make it out to a nice track with a good prep and break into the 7.999 area. Just a little something to brag about :-)
I can't say how it would be on this car, but i know for a fact with my car i pick up mph in the 1/8th on slicks.
Chris is definitely a good tuner and a good dude. We joke about this car all the time considering what it made on the dyno. He also told me that it was the least modded K20 that he had ever tuned and to not even bring back his way till it had some more mods!!! haha
Thanks
Yeah, I would assume that this car would react the same way, but as of right now it has picked up a few mph with the Neo Gens. I think that mainly has to do with it spinning a little.
In this particular video it actually ran an 8.3 or 8.4 with the same mph. The 8.2 pass was earlier in the day, actually it was the 2nd pass of the day just after I adjusted the air pressure in the tires, which was set at 27 psi on that pass. We have that pass on video, but I have not edited it yet. It was not as cool as this footage with the camera facing the rear.
I do not think it is going to get any faster, but I think my friend can cut some 1.9x 60's at a good track. I was told that another friend with a K swapped EG hatch cut some 1.9x's on the same tire at a better track. If we can do that, and he can get it down the track pretty well then that 7.999 pass might happen.
Thanks

Gringotegra and I both know that his car is going to go faster since he makes nearly 500 more hp. Having said that, his 1/8th times are not a ton faster than our 1/8th times. I know his mph is higher, he told me he spins most of 2nd gear, but there are things to learn and or try from a faster car using the same tires. Plus I know he has a little more experience using them at the track.
Since we can not afford to play with the fast cars right now, we think it is fun and challenging to surprise people at the track with regular old Neo Gens.
Nice run bro! what track is this i've been looking for more tracks in VA. that looks like yall have a good import scene i go to sumerduck...always racing bunch of hotrods lol
Check it out dude, he said "I can't say how it would be on this car, but i know for a fact with my car i pick up mph in the 1/8th on slicks."

I have heard of this Sumerduck track, but never been there. I think I have a couple cousins that live in Orange or Gordonsville, somewhere around there that race some really fast RWD cars at that track.
The import scene is lacking. Before I moved to where I am living I really didn't have any friends into FWD's other than one other friend with an ITR. Most of my friends with Hondas live in NC. Where I am living now there are more Hondas around, but a lot of people are hard headed or just trendy and I am not really into that. Maybe they think the same about me? hahaha....
I know what he said, but saying it in here is pretty much giving the benefit to compare. I figured you were smart enough to know that both cars will act much differently to traction, one being way more impaired than the other. Some people reading this may not be as smart though.
My next project will be on street tires. Been wanting that 10 second street tire run since 2007 when I went 11's on street tires on a stock B18C and a Drag turbo kit.
