Default my detailed rhd restoration project.

well im on here agian. i posted in my old ef sedan build a few weeks ago saying that i got the car back after selling it to re build it, but things didnt go as planed and ive decided to start fresh with a new car and a new build.

about 3 weeks ago my buddy came across someone that was selling a 1991 tahitian green si hatchback shell. i really didnt want to buy a si trim 88-91 civic but this one was cheap so i had to pick it up. the guy wanted $550 for it but he needed money bad so i ended up getting it for $300. it had most important interior trim. but didnt have seats. (i took these pics when i went to go look at it)

i towed the car to my place a few days later and i was kinda upset when i looked at it. the car was missing the carpet, si trunk garnish, and rear mud gards. but i looked past it and was happy to have the car in my hands.

it has the typical honda rust. driver side rear quater has a rust spot, as well does the lower rocker. and the pass side has rust at the lower rocker. whats kinda funny about the "filler job" that was done to cover it up is that it is 150% horrible looking.it looks like they mixed up the cheap filler in there hand a slapped it on the car. i do NOT want to deal with there "work". so plans for oem honda panels are in the works as well as a new si roof skin.

my first buy for the project car came before the car itself. lol i went to elite jdm in philly to see if they had any ef7/8/9 rhd conversion clips. and they had one 1991 ef8 crx sir clip left. the clip is super clean. it came with full uncut car harness, uncut carpet, door/trunk locks, cluster, and auto aircon! $1600 later and it was mine.

once i got the car i started to rip the clip and car apart carefully.

for the car i started to take off anything that was not going to get used. everthing from the dash under will not be used. but i did put the usdm main harness aside just in case i might have to use it.

as for the clip everything might be used so i took it apart as carefully as i could and set it aside.

chipping off the seam sealer, finding and marking the spotwelds and drilling through them was not fun at all. 2 napa spotweld cutters did the job and well.

my buddy jake wilson (ourbloodykisses) came by to take a few pics and help out with the clip. he will be taking pics of the build from time to time and will be one of the main people involved with this build.

and after 3 days of working on the clip after work we finally got it apart. next im going to prep the firewall for the install and plan out which way im going to be putting it in the car.

i have alot of plans for the car which im not gunna list lol. but i have usdm 32mm 5x114.3 integra type r front and read hubs that should be here next week along with 11' rotor conversion caliper brakets, rotors, calipers and stainless steel hardlines with rusell an fittings for a brakeline tuck.

droped the usdm subframe and removed the rest of the in bay brake lines. tomorrow ill be cleaning up the bay and getting ready to start working on removing the lhd firewall.

i was planning on having the window pulled without breaking it......but........ i made a stupid move with a flat head causing the window to crack all over the place, so i just pulled it and removed all the seal myself. ( another part adding to the list oem honda glass with seals -.-). i also wanted to spot out the areas on the body that had rot.
there not tooo bad. but they deff can use so work. im gunna order oem honda panels tonight. i need both rockers and the usdm driver side quater just for the piece near the bumper.

the inside of the car is covered with filler powder, its getting cleaned out in a few so i can finally remove the sealer.

more pics to come later on tonight.
