Default How are you big hp(700+) guys/gals doing a breather?

On my old setup I just ran a vaccu-pan system from the valve cover to down pipe, but I was making alot less power then this time around should. I am still gonna run the vaccu-pan but I'm not sure if that is gonna be enough. My buddy was telling me not to run a catch can due what happened with his motor. He said that he made a pull down the track and the oil never drained back down into the case and stayed in the breather. Have any of you had this problem? Any suggestions?

I run the T1 catch can and never had a problem 4 -10s off the valve cover and 2 drain back to the block.
i would suggest this one.

Uh, my car drains back to the block and I have no problems. I run more than 45 lbs of boost as well.

What do I know though.

Whoever had the bright idea of no catch can on a high boost setup is a fool.

Joe, curious what your logs are reading your oil pressure down the track? This is actually a pretty hot topic right now and very relevant...

The problem with the crank case pressure/catch can set ups is: that for one pass it is usually fine......until the end of the run on shutdown when all the oil from blow by (and its significant enough to starve your bearings on some setups) is stuck in the head.

This:
with the crank case pressure how does oil get from the head to the oil pan? The design is flawed in B series heads and the oil starvation bug has been biting the very best in the business lately....only this season have people started to switch their systems. You will no longer see people with lines from their head to a catch can and lines from the catch can to the block = pointless due to crank case pressure....oil simply won't flow down until after motor is shut off.....which is too late in many cases. Most people are running the head to catch can and back down to the front of the oil pan since the oil will stack at the back of the pan upon acceleration.

if you look at the t1 integra all of the ports for the valve cover on the breather box are blocked off. And he has a vaccu pan setup comming into the bottom of the exhaust, I just cant see where they are coming from

The ports on the exhaust are to create a vacuum in the catch can so the can pulls air from the crank case, its nothing new... Most cars don't have a need for this. I'm sure an engine of that stature would require this type of evacuation. in my opinion anything making less than 1000ish hp need not worry about this type of thing. I think the standard t1 style catch can and lines will suffice.

Using t1 catch can here 34psi now no problems.

If vented crankcase is building pressure... Mabey the vents are too small

Hole saw the valve cover. Weld some fittings and put filters on it. Lol

Who logs oil pressure these days? The lowest oil pressure reading under acceleration is 80 psi.

We already know why a bunch of guys are already having problems, hint: look at the fuel used.

I run 2 drainbacks to the back of the block as well.

Honestly though, when we had this problem on InDub's car last year, T1 gave us some great advice, and from there it has all made sense..

The only trophy I won was best engine bay, what do I know? I know how to create drama!

If everyone just turns down the boost, the problem will solve itself! Although, if we drill a bunch of holes in the block and run the FCS Parks-spec knitted blanket, that should work too!

Joe - Off topic Q, how do you get such high oil pressure? I was just looking at my logs and im at a steady 70psi with OEM oil pump...Got me worried!

OK so how come the T1 rebuild doesn't have a single port on the valve cover? If you look at the breather box the ports there are capped there also. So where is he venting the engine form? I understand how the T1 box is designed to be done, 4 lines to the valve cover and 2 to the back of the block. He does not have it routed this way on HIS PERSONAL CAR!!! You guys need to stop taking a brief look at the pics he posted. If it was the standard he would run it that way on his car, but he is smart the breather box is still under the hood and everyone has to go buy one because "it is on the T1 car" this is free marketing for him he shows you pics and you all go out and buy his $100 worth of an hose, fittings, and sheet metal for $550. Yeah go ahead and bash this because I am observant enought to catch this

thr red circle is the capped fittings on the box and the yellow is the vaccu pan

You're obviously missing a few things here, chief.

The Yellow circled items are EMAP sensors.

He has a large 1.5" diameter pipe there in front of your face that vents the block also. For most people, this isn't feasable.

We use a T1 catch can on a few cars and it works great. You have to understand that if you are running 40+ psi of boost, some things may need to change.

Magic dust. Perhaps sensor reading differences? Bearing clearance? Got me, can I sell you a pump that I touched?

well I am in CO at 6200ft elevation and for me to make power I will prabably be somewhere near that boost level. Oh and I am only on a 6262 to make it more difficult to make big power.

The whole thing about the "EMAP sensors" you are talking about bothers me because they look exactly like my vaccu-pan system!

Where does he vent to the 1.5" pipe from?

More then a few things actually, on top of that Tony only builds show cars now a days, but he does look cute sitting by them.

Pipe from front of pan..

I have the same EMAP sensor canisters on my car from T1, they connect to each bank of the divided turbo manifold and a sensor attaches to each canister to get pressure readings.
