Ugly red braided lines on firewall/ throttle body. Can be deleted?
Im redoing all the coolant and vacuum lines on my dohc zc and I hate the way this red braided line looks. Can anyone tell me what its for and if I can delete it or simply change it to black fuel line if possible??
I circles the lines in red and the canister where they go to in blue

Id love to delete it but I think it may be emmissions related.
Thanks for any help!!

umm your ef is jdm but it seems to have usdm or lhd glass headlights wtf!!!
yes just replace it with regular hose or cap it off and get rid of it but mpgs will suck ***

regular black hose replacement it is, dont wanna give up gas mileage.
Yes the lights were converted to glass by the previous owner, but I have the oem plastics which I will probably put in after some polishing. Im curious how the single bulb will work/look

all that line does is suck air in from the charcoal canister. the canister simply filters out gas fumes from your fuel tank vent. i deleted mine, and ran a line from the vent on the fire wall strait down to the ground, so i don't smell gas and it still vents. then you cap off the nipple on the throttle body, and the nipple that the vacuum purge valve is attached to on the back of the intake manifold
you should really look into a propper intake and a new valve cover gasket too, just sayin

meh.. intakes are just for cosmetics. there's already plenty of proof out there that they don't actually do anything. as long as your filter is clean you're good
curious as to how deleting the canister could harm mpg's tho?

that pic is old trust me the engine is mint now that, new valve cover gasket is in and valve cover painted fresh, and a new non duct taped air intake lol
hmm.. supposedly it pumps the vapors back into the manifold, which would then burn.. if you wanted to, could you just direct the vent straight into the manifold and avoid the canister altogether? then you still get to burn the vapors
its a part of an emission system yes it pumps vapors into your intake yes they do burn and it does help with mpgs hence why they are there if not any car maker will just let the gas air out by a simple hose but then again it would be dangerous
so why does the canister need to be there? could you just feed the vent tube straight into the intake and bypass/remove the canister.. same effect, no?
the canister is a sort of a filter for the fumes
idk if you have tried the trick with a lighter and a empty bottle just let some of the butane gas into the bottle and then let it sit flat and spark it and you will get a shooting flame out of the bottle( pls becarefull if you try)
so picture straight gas fumes in your intake manifold the fumes will just over power whatever air is in the intake manifold and you will either get a back fire or your car will read its runnin to rich and so on
