d series timing belt tensioner
98 D16y7
my tensioner is making noise, so i'm wondering if its possible to change it without removing the lower timing cover and having to retime the engine? i dont want to pay to have the timing belt done at the dealer, and would rather just get the tensioner for now since the belt and waterpump look fairly new.

oh i know its not hard to set the timing. id just rather not have to screw around with the engine. well im gonna call a couple places, theres a shop here that specializes in honda and acuras, so i'll see how much he will charge to do the timing belt set. maybe even look into doing the oil pump while the front of the motor is torn apart.
You can't get to the oil pump through the timing belt cover. The oil pan has to be removed. It's a seperate job. Why do you want to replace the oil pump?
The only job that has to do with oil in that location would be the rear main seal? Is that what you're talking about?
