I have a 07 Civic EX 4dr sedan. My wife and I love it. On average on long trips we get about 40-43 mpg highway and get about 32 mpg in the city. It is pretty comfortable. handling is pretty solid. I do all the maintenance on it. I use all OEM filters and fluid on it and follow the maintenance schedule in the owners manual and on the maintenance minder. Overall it is a good car.
i have a 07 Si but it has a race header (cat delete) 3 inch straight pipe to a stock muffler and has been tuned to push 210 WHP on 91. I get about 20 mixed driving, but on the highway i average about 35...Stock was about 25-28 mixed depending on how hard your on the gas
Stock suspension is great, id say to upgrade and get an aftermarket suspension so you can the dampening on it.

08 Si, I/H/E, and average 28-32mpg mixed 70%highway driving. Obviously it will go down the more I'm hard on the loud pedal, but I don't really "try" to get the best mileage I can. Just shifting 32~3800 rpm.
tomcatter and 08rrfa thank you both for the info its a great help. sorry, i had mistakenly asked hybrid like an idiot simply because of the 40+ mpg statement ref. to long trips. some people on here just like to try to start ish as if a child. must be cus av911 is from sf.
anyways, thank you both again for the info. im looking forward to my 2nd daughter soon so something for family time and stock with mpg benefit is a great priority here for me.

the sedans are great for family! My wife has a 14y/o, 12y/o and we have a 2y/o. They do fit in the back seat, a little tight for now, but not uncomfortable by any means! lol Congrats on your upcoming little one!
My only comment is that in my 08 Civic sedan, two car seats about fill the rear bench with room for a very trim and thin person in the middle. If you go for a 3rd kid, I can't conceive getting 3 car seats in at all.
My 2012 SI sedan is getting 35mpg, never going over 55 mph, all City driving but its a huge pain in the *** to make it do that, lol but worth it. I haven't taken it on the interstate yet.
