Default swapping throttle bodies

I have a d16y8 and I found a b16 throttle body for sale. I'm interested in swapping it, but I want to make sure it's a direct swap before I spend the cash.

Has anybody tried that swap?

I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything to answer my question.

Depends on what b16 it's from. They'll all bolt up fine but OBD0 b16 throttle bodies don't have the map sensor mounted on top so you'll have to rig your old one to work.

I'm not sure which one it's from either. There is a sensor or plug of some sort on the side opposite to the throttle.

Speaking of which, am I going to have to run a different throttle cable or is it really that interchangeable?

Thats probably the TPS.

And yes, they are that interchangeable.

Awesome. Thanks for the info! Now I just have to figure out where to do the port/polish.

Are you going Forced Induction, or just doing bolt-ons to your D-series?

If you're doing bolt-ons, they will all make negligible changes in power.

Do you mean port matching the larger throttle body to the intake manifold?

You honestly won't see much from the larger throttle body on that engine, mostly just response.

And a port/polish would be a real waste unless you're boosting anytime soon, though that money could be better spent in getting a turbo into the car instead of making you're N/A d-series marginally more powerful.

Nothing wrong with boosting a stock motor, you can always modify the motor after you get there first.

I'm definitely going to put a turbo on. I have a T25 sitting in the garage waiting to go on there. I just have to find a kit to put on there or piece it together without losing a/c and power steering. Any tips?

Keeping A/C and power steering, from what I understand, merely boils down to buying the proper turbo manifold that is out of the way of those components. Have a shop route piping for you and tune it. Good to go.

T25s are tiny bro.
I don't know much about adding Turbo to Hondas, however I can tell you right now that if you're planning on building your Turbo kit around a T25 (2G DSM), you might as well shop around for a 14B (1G DSM) instead. The 14B has much more potential than the T25.

Once you max out the 14B, you can start looking for all the compatible upgrades, such as 16G, 18G, 20G etc. There are plenty of used ones for sale on DSM Forums.

My advice: do your research, you might want to build your kit around a Turbo with a more standard exhaust housing than Mitsu ones.
