1. It was assumed as per the rules the airbags were disabeled.
(air bags can be in the car they cannot enabeled.)

2. IT is the drivers responsiblity to tech the car and prepare the car per the rules.

Probably more damage done to the car since it had a JDM front, smaller bumper support and all.

Given the same circumstances with a USDM front, the damage done would have been sufficiently lower.

IMO

yeah i'm curious about that as well (well, pretty sure it would have been less). though i dont think anyone should go out and test to find the results . this could be a good reason not to allow those types of front ends in for racing

This maybe a stupid question but why are airbags not good. I don't have them but just wondering.

Don't forget that all Integra pro/club race cars in Japan have that front end too. I don't think their safety requirement would be any less than that of the US club racing.

BTW, is that one of the cars in ECHC? I just went to the honda-Challenge site but couldn't find #23.
Sorry to see that happened.

Well, if an airbag were to deploy from w2w contact where the driver hadn't lost control to that point, and inflated airbag should by all rights make things much worse as far as controlling the car from that point on.

On the bumper supports and which type, strikes me that the front end was pretty much sheared off so I am a-guessin' that a different (or more robust attachment point) would have either yeilded the identical result or made things worse. JMO

Hope that all is well with the driver - indeed a tough break.

There weren't any tires in front of that wall.

That make sense. That was the only explanation I could think of but thought I would ask.

By the sharp edges made to the body parts, I was also wondering what kind of tires would do that. Yes... no tires in front of walls just sucks.

I hope all is going as well.

3rd place is nothing to sneeze at Mr. Franza , you always seem to be near the top. Unless you are talking about a different Jason....

Oh that sucks! I know exactly how the driver is feeling right now....
But it does seem much more more repairable than mine!

Yep Jason Was Second Overall (and in clas) when the Red Flag flew... however timing and scoring can only go by the last full lap which stinks.

How was that a race car when it has no class identification on it, only a number and the NASA sticker? I don't know who it was, though I've seen the car before, so I can guess, but if he can't follow the simple T&S related rules (class designation on sides and front of car), I'm almost not surprised he can't follow the bigger protect-your-own-*** rules (air bags disabled).

glad he's okay in any event
