Default smfh got car tuned and bottom end fully built @cnc by miller..

so i got my block built but cnc engine dynamics.the block is flawless gsr block, 84mm aebs sleeved, turbo tuff rods,cp forged pistons and balance gsr crank..ok i got the car done then had it tuned in a week time by chris miller @cnc engine dynamics..the car got done tuning @around 1pm and the car melted two pistons @11pm the same day..car made 550hp 380tq...they try to tell me it was bad gas lol i been running shell v power for years.i got one of my friend to look @ the tune for me on my s300 and the car is at 23 degree timing at 22psi on 93octane with a boost cut at 28psi let me remind you its a street car not a track car..

What was the airfuel ratio ?

Are they willing to help you out in any way?

This is second motor from CNC Engine dynamics I have read about destroying its self in the last week. This is no good, I'm sorry for what you have to deal with. Hope it goes your way.

Was your AFR gauge giving you any readings at all when you got the car back?

All these setups now adays make too much power on pump gas. Just because it did it on the dyno doesn't mean it will consistantly hold it on the street. That tune was entirely too agressive for longevity with the fuel used. Sorry for your loss. If your friend has hondata then he should be able to back the timing down for your next build...

Miller is a ****ing joke. I had him tune my stock sleeve d16y8 about 3 years ago back when he was still with NRG. At 22psi it (pump gas) he was running over 20 deg of timing.. Also spiked the boost 3-4 time (spun the tires on the dyno) cracking one of my sleeves..Hes a loser & I don't give a **** how fast his ****ing car is.....

Before blaming the tuner.. why dont you kids sit back and wait until some proof is provided.

Why dont you upload the bin file from the s300 along with any datalogs you have.
I'd like to see the timing map and Fueling map. I'd also like to know why you didn't get a wideband ASAP after they told you, yours was broken or bad. Melted a piston? pics of said pistons and next time, use periods and complete sentences.

ummmmm. 23 deg. of timing on a 500+ whp car on pump gas, there is no reason to speculate what happened here, horrible tune.

That said, did you give him a power goal to reach on the tune? If you told him 5xx whp was what you wanted, and he had to run that much timing to get it, then it's kinda your fault as well.

You should have known ahead of time, what safe whp,AFR, and timing adv. was ok on pump gas, and asked him to not exceed those numbers for a safe tune before he even started....

i told him i wanted 500hp on pump gas safely were i can drive it on the street.he made 494 then asked me if i wanted more i said ok give me give me 20hp more and i am good with that.he did a few more pulls and the car kept spinning on the dyno.because the car spinning it shacked the dyno and it read 523hp and 555tq.

^ This. 100% Truth....I would never run my car on pump gas at that level for even a highway pull...people forget quickly that pump gases vary within gas stations and nobody is fuel testing their gas before putting it in their car...i would even go as far as to run some 110 octane just to be on the safe side if i was going to be on the street getting on the car heavy...

^ This right here is why you are going to have problems with them being the cause of the failure....there is no way you drive your car without a working AF guage or getting accurate readings, you could/should have waited until you had a working setup before getting on the car.

1. Didnt know what the A/F was while driving the car under load, on pump gas?
2. Is it possible the fuel pump took a complete **** under high load.
3. What was the OP doing with the car at the time of failure?
4. At what PSI did the car make 550hp on the dyno, for the boost cut to be set at 28psi?

Yeah tune was bad. To much timing. I also hope your pump gas was 93 octane and not 91.

ok it had a brand new walbro 400 and the car was at 22psi so why would you put the boost cut at 28?

This looks a bit more like mutual fault.. blackeg stated it here.

1) You made a horribly unreasonable request. I get about 10PMs/day about "how much power on pump gas?" "how far can i go?", and that person not think about planning ahead for better fuel needs to account for hot days with less dense air, any relevant powerband that is safe, etc. This was a recipe for disaster... just waiting for the oven to go *ding*; and it did.

2) The tuner was silly enough to listen to your unreasonable request of this kind of peak power on fuel that reached past its knock resistant point, and added timing instead of being safe, conservative and leaving well enough alone while he was ahead. He'd rather push for some silly number than just keep things relatively safe.
However, we don't know his side of the story, so he can't be blamed quite yet... There's two sides to every story.
