exhaust guard...1991 honda ex accord
driving one day, this bar dropped to the ground...it's a bar or bracket that covers the exhaust just below the engine with a rubber mount on one side and looks like a bolt is supposed to hold it in on the very front of the car...it runs from front to back not side to side...it's only about 2 feet long...my question is do I need to have this there? what is the purpose of it beside just keeping the exhaust from getting beat up from underneath....is that what its for?
lol hes talking about the "skid" plate plastic. i would re install it back on or get a new one. its to protect your exhaust from getting scratched and creating a whole. plus it also helps on rainy days. you dont want cold water splashing on your VERY hot aluminum block do you?
its not a plastic cover..it looks like a metal bracket of some sort..about 2 in wide and about 2 feet long....has a rubber mount on the back end and bolts just under the radiator to the frame of some sort..the back part is mounted actually to the exhaust itself with a rubber bracket.....it seems more of a pain the *** then anything....I cant get it bolted to the front..I have it up with bungee cords...I'm thinking I will just take it off...
it goes from the exhaust to the front of the car....doesn't block water or anything..just looks like covers the exhaust in the front only front bottoming out...

yes its something like that ...not exactly....I'll take a picture today....I'm pretty sure this is what I'm talking about just a little different on my car....does it have any use besides to protect the exhaust? can I take it off...looks like there is another bracket of somesort right under the radiator....mine looks like it bolts to the bottom of the radiator...right next to where the drain plub is for the radiator.....its super loose and its held on right now by just a rubber mount of somesort....moves around....do these brackets have any use? like I said I'll take a picture today...
Its a personal choice to have it. Look up explicit speed performance traction set up, with there traction set up you dont use that bar. Ive got a 92 accord thats lowered & i dont have that bracket.
