i'm trying to take off the cover that goes over the screws that hold the rearview mirror on.. the grey plastic piece. i dont know how to get the ****** off. i tryed prying with a flathead at all directions, squeezing it, punching it, and cussing at it.

Yeah it is a bitch to get off.l You have two options. Just grip the mirror really good by the base and yank it off. It will come off because it is a break away mirror. Then take off the plastic cover and reset the mechanism. Or get two flat head screw drivers and pry at both sides to flex the plastic so the cover will come off.

ummm....i wouldn't since it's screwed into the ceiling....just keep prying at the cover...it'll just pop off really easily eventually.

hmm not sure what kind of screwdrivers your using... I used a really big (the blade is wide) screwdriver to pry off the cover and it came off pretty easily.. then again my car is a 1995 and maybe the cover/plastic is all loose anyway... try gettting a wide tip screwdriver and put some duct tape of electrical tape over it so you don't scratch anything.. thats how I got mine out...
