If funds aren't a problem, get the C5. If you absolutely must get a motor now, save for the C5 haha.

i ran 15.4@89 in my 93 rs integra bonestock street tires weighing at 2650 how the heck you run 15.1 in a gsr swap in a lighter car?

I award that time to bad driving. And no O2 sensors on an obd2 computer. Too much fuel. I'll get the required sensors installed and a better slip next time. My car is now currently 2705 lbs. (not too light)

15.1@92mph on a 2705lb car isn't too bad. Especially running the check engine codes for no o2 sensors. If I opted to gut the hatch down to feather weight, and fix the check engine problem, I'll burry a low 13 sec time slip close to 100mph guaranteed. But I've already been there and done that. This civic is for show and daily beating.

93 hatch b20vtec turbo
93 t78 supra
99 hatch b18c1 (daily beater)

My Supra is currently under construction. (HURRY UP HITEC AUTO!)
You don't want a car like this. You guys think a honda is expensive to modify? A supra is a money pit as deep as hell gets...

The C5 is a great motor no doubt about it.

But if I could do it all over again I would build a motor from scratch. B18C1 block, JUN 2.0L stroker with 11.5:1 comp , JUN 3 cam package, CTR tranny w/act street disc, Toda ITB's ....this setup is a little spendy but woulc produce some killer midrange and absoloutely pull hard in the top end.

But for a drop in motor that is rock solid daily reliable......a C5 is a decent deal and packs quite a punch for a factory motor...check my sig....its a DX EK.....night and day difference between D16Y motor and C5

my friend's car...

98 hatch, b18c1 i/h/e, everything else stock.
15 inch wheels, street tires. 14.7@96mph.

funny thing is tho, my other friend's 98 gsr ran a 14.6@ 97 mph
b18c1, i/h, stock exhaust, skunk2 manifold, p28 ecu chipped with obd2-ob1,
stock wheels, street tires.

both un-tuned.

isn't hatch lighter than a gsr and should hit a faster time? driver?

the gsr is heavier but 96+ hatch aren't 92-95 civic hatch, they're much heavier. My friends 97 hatch is a little bit heavier than my 92 Integra RS.

my 96 hatch b18c with an exhaust runs consistent 14.7's. maybe i can't drag race, or maybe thats what it runs.

HOWEVER if i had to do it over again, i'd get an LS engine, turbocharge it, and forget about it.

maybe with the original D engine but when you get a B swap, disc brake conversion etc...etc...things are getting heavier.
