Default Alarm sys w/pager

I look at the alarm systems with pagers on eBay and decide I want one, but all of the ones on eBay seem either cheesy or weak. You guys know of anything good?

yea they are cheezy, go to a local shop and ask about autopage. Friends got one on his HB. remote start keyless entry, pager, temp inside car, alarm for every possibly entry point there is, starter kill. the things badass. only problem is... 600 bucks.

Thanks for the tip. Price doesn't sway me too much, because I really don't see the point of an alarm system without a pager. I would probably have the pager on and no siren on so that I could possibly catch the person in the act, because where I live no one gives a ____ if theres a siren blaring. Just another false alarm.

The only problem with the pagers is the fact that they don't really work.
If there is no interference (say a couple of walls) then it will work. But if you are in a store and someone is messing with your car don't expect your pager to go off

I've been reading up on them (I also see the autopage kit with the pager for $300 from hawaii411.com), and from what they all say, they are supposed to have quite a long line-of-sight range, and decent range without line-of-sight. Like say inside stores and such. This is my only reason for wanting one with a pager, so I will make sure that the maker/seller tells me in writing it will page me when I'm inside places and at good distance so that if it doesn't, I will be able to return it.

Hey NitrouStang96. Good idea about the pager. If you didn't know already, about 20 cars were broken into in the last week in Briarwood, Quail Arbor V(my neighborhood), Greenhurst, and Martin's Creek. If your in Summerville you know these neighborhoods. Among my friends, thousands of dollars worth of stereo equipment was stolen. We are all very eager to catch these SOB's.

I just thought I would mention this since you live in the area. BTW, where are you in Summerville???

LOL! I am in Briarwood! I sure hope you do catch those guys, and that's been one reason I don't go all out with my stereo system yet, without an alarm system, since they ALL get yanked around here. My icon should reflect my car when it allows me to not be a trial user any more and become a regular member, but you no doubt have seen my car around summerville, I'm always driving around. It's cool to see someone here from the same area, show me a pic of your ride!

DEI Python 880XP

With the extended range antenna you can get great coverage. Lots of nice accessories can be added onto it also. Come with a remotestart too if you like that kinda thing.

HAHA good luck w/ that.. no installer, seller, manufacter will ever tell you it will work everywhere even if the circumstances are ok.. most pager alarms will work for about 1/4 mile all depends on whats around you. ive never installed or even used any other pager alarm besides the new dei viper 790 and the add-on pager system that dei makes that can be added to any alarm system.

the new viper 790 is very nice, i have already installed it in my car cause ive been waiting for it to come out since jan when dei first released info on it. it is a two lcd pager that fits on your keychain and isnt much bigger than dei remotes. do some research if you want on it.. i trust all dei products cause ive worked w/ them for a long time but lately ive heard good things about autopage and compustar from fellow honda-tech installers..

I would skip the aladdin 2000 and other knock off alarms on E-bay.. look into the new Viper/DEI 2 way paging unit, Compustar, or the Crimestopper units...

also on the pager and no siren thing.. I would leave the siren as this may scare the theif away... if you leave out the siren they might think the flashing LED is just fake and proceed to tear up your dash and take your stereo or something.. but if they siren goes off they might just leave.... also depending on your location the pager might not work/be w/in range... so I'd leave the siren in...
