97 Ex: Cruise control doesnt work. How would I diagnose it?
Hey all.
1997 Ex 5 speed
Either the cruise control isnt working or I'm doing it wrong. I press the CRUISE CONTROL button on the dash, then I press the SET on the steering wheel. Nothing happens.
The vacuum lines are connected and so is the harness plug. I checked the fuse near the dead pedal and its the same as ECU so its working.
Where else would I look on fixing this issue? Im only getting 24 MPG mixed so I hope using it will help me out a little.

Kind of a list of things......first on my list would be to check the switch on the clutch pedal....should be two, one is for the starter the other is for the cruise....they have the same little "stops" as the brake pedal (assume this is a factory 5 speed?)....how many "my brake lights are on when the car is off" threads have you read?
Ill definitely check it out tomorrow, I had no idea there was two. I also have a feeling mine is going bad anyways because if I stall out the car, it wont start up right away. But it always starts up other times.
LOL @ brake pedal switch. Mine was in too tight and the brake lights stayed on. I loosened it a bit and bye bye problem! Ill definitely check the switch tomorrow though. Also, the cruise control light on the cluster doesnt come on.

Test both the clutch and brake pedal switches.....the brake switch really has two positions, meaning you can have it such that the lights are off when the pedal is being being pressed but not close the circuit to the cruise.
