This car makes a really wierd grinding sound when driving and making turns... please help with info
Hey guys, my manager gave me a ride home today, she drives a civic, but your ma boyz so im gonna ask you guys.
Well its tattered and beat up, needs alot of front end work. But, besided the point
I was driving with her, she would make a left turns around the parking lot and this wierd grinding sound would occur, and I could feel it under my feet, she would drive straight, and every once in a while it would occur, every once in a while when she shifted gears, it would occur, which leads me to believe that, when you shift gears, you car kinda jerks, stops, whatever for that one second, which is why it happens every so ofted during shifts.
Im thinking a CV joint or boot or something, but I am not sure as to what it could be. Please guys help me out here, she is widower not many men in her life and she is unsure as to what to do with little money, God-willing I will help her.

I had the same problem when i put my 17s back on. But then i put my stock alloys on & it went away. I gues it was bad tires. Not really sure though. It could also be the CV joints, but usually it will click when you go around turns.
Ya, bout 5-6k depending on whether you do the work yourself or not.

Sounds like a bearing. Could be either a RF wheel bearing and/or a differential bearing in the transmission. Check the service history. If she has gone to one of those "Quick Lube" places, they may have put 80-90 into the tranmission. That'll kill bearings for sure. I'm doing an overhaul on a 99 Civic that had gear oil in the transmission. Look forward to a bill of $1200 to $1400 depending on clutch parts, seals, etc... Good luck.
