clutch chattering?
i just replaced the clutch on my car yesterday. this was the first time i had done one, i also had a friend help me whos done clutches before. this was the first clutch job the car has had since the factory. i had the flywheel professionally resurfaced, and used a complete exeddy clutch kit. the job went well, no major snags. anyways, when i slowly engage the clutch at low rpms(under 1500rpm), i get chatter. once the clutch is totally engaged, the chattering is gone. if i slowly engage the clutch at higher rpms(2000+rpms) theres no chatter. the chattering has gotten less since ive put some miles on it. the clutch is adjusted corectly, theres a little play at the end and the clutch grips VERY well. so is this normal? other people i talk to say thats normal until the clutch seats.
its fine, just let it wear in. did you replace the throw out bearing? is that what you mean? Does it make a noise when you let off the clutch like a pop?

I have this too. I am not sure how long the clutch has been in (over 2k, as I have put that many miles on the car). I still get the chatter at low RPM's and enguaging the clutch. I am not sure about the FW though, as it might have not been resurfaced.

But I have given it well than enough time to seat. Jeff had it for 2 months (Average 1k a month); and I've had it for 2. So it has well over 4k on it; shouldn't it be set well enough by now?

Most likely its your input shaft.......its prob. a bit roughed up from your old t/o bearing and pilot bearing slamming across it....
somtimes a shop will very carefully remachine those but usually they will ask you to replace the entire bell housing....
its prob. making this noise becuase your new bearings and pressure plate are alot stronger and grip harder then the factory worn out components.....and it tends to make a loud noise when engaging under stressfull loads....such as low rpms.....when your slowly engaging it....
its not that big of deal......in fact most ACT clutches chatter like a bitch becuase they have so much pressure on the bearings and input shaft......
Let me ask you can you hear the flywheel turning at idle...with the clutch disengaged...if so your input shaft is worn........its not really a big big deal....and if you can live with it youll be fine....

Hey Pelo. I was told by a few people that its almost impossible to have a 6-puck that doesnt chatter
. If you give it gas it doesnt do it, so thats all I can say. BTW, you should drive my car next time Im at the track. My clutch is hella wierd. Really, really short.

Nice. I'm really liking (sp?) the 6puck (What is the stage II, 4?), but after about an hour of driving my leg still hurts. Price I have to pay I guess
. I can feel the passenger side axel going out. Better get it fizzed b4 Wed. U gonna be there?

if you get a 6puc with a sprung hub it wont chatter (maybe a little bit every now and then) but if its a solid hub it will chatter
