94 accord rough idle
Well i have researched and havent quite came across my exact problem.I have a 94 honda accord with the 2.2 vtec motor automatic trans.Once the engine reaches noraml operating temp i get a rough idle while sitting at a light, it seems to drive fine .I normally only drive the honda 6 miles to work and six miles back home.Ifi tak eit out on the weekends and drive farther it seems to do the oposite, if i step into it at all while driving a distance farther then the 6 miles to work it wants to idle at aroun 18 hundred rpms.It seems to stay that way even if i pump the pedal ( just to make sure the throttle isnt just stuck) it stays at around the 18 hundred and i end up just shutting it off. I havent tried starting it after that until maybe the next day. Next time i drive it it drives normal until it warms up then the rough idle, and same with the higher rpms if i drive it a way's. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I have to try and fix this tomorow, if i can.
I looked up th ediy on how to clean the egr ports i dnt think thats an option for me to do that, i dont have the tools or knowledge.Would sea foam do the trick instead of the process of cleaning the egr ports, drilling taking the fuel rail off etc?
Its sounds like u may have a minor vacuum leak. When she warms up, its only then that u have the issue. U could either find out where the leak is and seal it up, or u could adjust the idle itself.
Usually the auto choke will raise your rpm's when first started anyways, so what u could possibly get away with doing is - go take a drive and warm your car up, it'll then hit your 1800 issue, then as she's idling decrease it to 900 or so.
I don't think that would give you any problems, but until u find that vacuum leak, that might be the right fix for now.

What engine do u have in there? If its the 2.2 vtec, is it the h22a1 swap? There's a badge/milled flat spot(1" sq) on the front of the motor that specifies what it is. It might be covered with grease/ dirty oil. Just wipe it off real quick.
gotcha -
I don't know if you seen this post, talking bout that egr valve - which could too be causing a vacuum leak as well.
good luck bro - hope it's simpler than that for u
