Urethane Wings West kit. Is there a best way to install it? The right way
Im picking up a brand new but old wings west RS kit, in urethane.
I havent seen the kit or its mounting points yet, but I searched and couldnt find any tips or info on how to install this thing. Side skirts and door caps obviously being the odd/harder parts to me to install
Is there best ways to go about putting it on the proper way and ensuring good fitment and good looks with the door caps and having them clear the door/fender properly??
Appreciate any info guys!!

Front bumper has 3 bolts near the hood, then 4 screws two on each side of front wheel well
Rear Bumper is about that same as front
Sides- on door its 3m double back tape, the rest is stick on/screws in wheel wells and a few screws below the doors near the weld
Congrats on your purchase, take your time and do it right!

I did this recently. The kit is a great kit, BUT don't expect to just pull it out of the box, get it painted and bolt it on. Mine required fine fitting and some edges to smooth to get it to be just right. My door caps needed more help than anything. I had to shave down some of the mounting points on the door caps... I had to trim/ shave the front and rear bumpers to get them to sit just flush the way it was needed. Other than a couple hours of fine fitting, its good. Your body guy should also be prepared to fill and fix small imperfections in the urethane as it does not always come out of the mold perfect. I don't know what others experience is with the WW kit, but mine was not as "perfect" as I expected, but I also got mine through there outlet and got it for 200 less than the price they were asking. Maybe others were better quality but I don't really see how that would since they ALL came from the same mold. Perhaps the fine tuning parts were not as good as they could be... IDK, I love my kit and overall is a really good, stout kit.
Yep, you might have to make slight adjustments, one thing that comes to mind, was my exhaust at the time, DC sports didnt sit right and I had to lower it a bit to fit under the rear bumper.
I cant say I had any noticeable imperfections in mine, and yes those door caps are a bitch to get right, in the end I took my side skirts to a shop to install, they said they had fun
Besides the Mugen kit, Wings West RS kit is one of the better fitting ones for sure. Gives you some nice room up front if you want to Turbo also

So the side skirts have some screws in the wheel wells?? Didnt know that
Also, is there any chance of interference with the door cap and fenders when openning the door?
Or can the door cap only go in one spot?

actually there are quite a few screw locations for that kit.
the front fascia, side skirts and rear are all screwed in with stainless steel screws.
the door covers are done with 3m and an adhesion agent. I think I still have the install paper
work somewhere. I know it was available on line for a while.

The kit comes with instructions??
I must find that, but Id like to know how people have had the best success with it I guess in real life

There is certainly a little tweaking on the front and rear bumpers, but not a bad fit overall.
As for the door caps, you really just have to get them centered right and they will clear the side skirts fine. Mock it up with the door open and closed to see where you like it (and where you might bump), then mark the door with something non-permanent so you'll know the best place to actually mount it.
The door caps have double sided tape (and some glue came with my kit, too), and I think you're technically supposed to screw into them from inside the door panels but I didn't. I just put a fine bead of silicone along the bottom of the tape line for extra stick. They aren't going anywhere. Seriously stuck. Silicone is how I re-mounted all the molding on my Jeep and it's been solid for like 4yrs when other glues failed. That's just how I did it, you may not like the silicone idea.

Wings west actually tells you to screw in about 8- 10 screws in the back bumper and the same for the front. The kit does come with instructions (not super detailed but good), Adhesive promoter for where the double sided tape hits the body of the car (dude above said it came with glue, it does not... its adhesion promoter) and a bag of like 30 screws.
In the instructions they make no mention of screws in on the door caps BUT I think this would be a great idea. The silicone ideas is good too to keep the cap sealed. I will do this when I put my caps on.
OH! By the way... A 2 second google search produced this... Its the instructions for the hatchback but its identical to the CRX except for the little pictures they use.

Look at my previous post, there is an instructions link right in it. Seriously took me 1 google search to find the PDF instructions from Wings West.
What more are you looking for? Its a great kit, requires some minor mods to fit and looks great. Done... game over
EBAY! Wings West outlet sells this kit on ebay... The first is wings west outlet... list price is like $614 but if you best offer them @ $500 they will take it lol. Here is the link:

the best advice is inless you've done body work and kits before then take it to a shop for a professional fitting. people will laugh you out of meets when there is gaps in your kit and it's falling off.
Ive done body work, and am very mechanically inclined. Doing it myself isnt the problem
I just wasnt sure what techniques people have use with success, especially to mount the door caps to the doors.
Do you scuff the oem paint atleast if youre using the double sided tape on the back of the door cap? Or is using some sort of adhesive just a better idea??

Seriously, have you clicked on the instructions link I pasted in on my second post in this thread? There should be no more questions needed.
Yes I read the link and get thats how THEY say to do it
I was curious how the Crx community ACTUALLY does it
Im a little more so worried that after I install it, Im going to try and open my door and find some interference etc. Thats what I was more looking for tips on etc.
Im assuming you should install the side skirt first, then door cap

I have this kit installed on my hatch the front and rear bumper will bolt right on in factory locations, on the sideskirts don't use the 3m tape it won't stick and makes a mess I went to my local parts store and picked up a tube of windshield urithane andused a quack gune to apply it and then uused it to glue the skirts on. The urithane ahesivie will flex with the body and kit and hold a lot better

Thank you!
I have an ef hatch, but now I know where to look!
Im sure I could find some urethane adhesive or something if its going to hold better than the wings west double sided tape
Does the tape fail or something? I dont want to paint the car and have it fall off
but I dont want to waste money if its going to be adequate and not make a mess of the car like I think may happen with me and a tube of sealer
Did you mean caulk gun? Like a regular style or do you need a different style?
