Hey guys, just wanted to give us CRX owners with single stage paint, mainly (barbados yellow and rio red etc) a great product that will safely hide swirl marks in your paint without being abrasive.

Most people use mild abrasive polishes that remove more paint than necessary, just to remove swirl marks. This is dangerous on cars with single stage paint (no clear coat).

If your paint is older and you don't want to remove any more, even if it is microns, paint glazes are the best way to fill and hide these marks for a mirror like finish.

I bought this Griots Garage Glaze. Gonna use it, along with my Griots 3" orbital machine, to see how well it hides swirl marks. 8-)

 

I've used cool little filler polishes before. They typically look good for a while, but they will wash away before too long. Griots garage stuff is typically pretty good!

 

A nice couple layers of hard wax will protect it even longer.
This typically should be done 1-2 times a year (spring + autumn) if you daily drive your car.

 

Note: this won't cure the red-pink oxidation.

I bet a nano polish/wax would go nicely over it.

 

Well today I decided to attack the CRX paint with Griots Garage Paint glaze.

First, I washed the paint thoroughly using lukewarm water with 'Super suds' soap which is amazing. Really leaves a nice clean surface to work with.

Then I spent some time (about 30 minutes) clay-barring the paint.
It actually wasnt that dirty since I clayed it right before winter storage in December.
Then wiped it all down with a microfiber clth to dry up the excess lube/water.

Next I used my small 3" Griots garage polisher, with the orange pad and Glazed the car, 1 panel at a time. Not much effort is necessary here. Once you put it on, dont let it sit for more than 20 seconds. It can become difficult to wipe off the excess.
You could see right away the small swirls disappear after you remove the excess. It leaves a bright/rich/smooth mirror like finish, while not removing much if any paint.

Once the entire car was glazed, next step was to apply some Victorias 'Concours red wax'

I applied this with my bare hands, massaging it into the paint. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds, then wipe off with clean microfiber towel. This will protect the finish for at least 6 months.

All in all, Im very happy with the Paint Glaze Product. I no longer need to use polish or fine swirl remover on the since stage CRX paint.
