Default d15b8 boltons for better mpg

got a 92 cx civic with the worthless d15b8. well using it for gas mileage and building a d16z6 on the side. it has a tiny intake mani and TB, will a bigger 1.5 mani fit? im buying a magnaflow catback system and a header for it soon, have an AEM intake on it too. just looking for the best mpg i can get. any other suggestions out there?

I wouldn't touch the intake manifold or TB, and leave the header and exhaust alone. If you're serious about looking for better gas mileage, you should make sure the motor is running well. I found that the civic I picked up had the incorrect plugs in it, two steps colder, and I improved my MPG by over 10mpg by putting in the correct plug. Also, make sure your timing is set correctly as well as other basic maintenance procedures like inspecting spark plug wires, air filter, o2 sensor, etc..

I picked up a couple MPG by inflating my tires to 45psi, and picked up another couple MPG by rebuilding my calipers. (they weren't retracting correctly)

Again, if you're serious about MPG, go on Ecomodder.com and read up on some of the ways to improve your driving technique. My civic, with a D16y7 and 5 speed manual, is getting 50mpg and I'm still doing a bunch of local driving.

Dont waste your time with bolt ons on that D15B.

Do a full tune up on it, get an alignment, and fix all leaks.

an actual tune would probably net a few mpg.

ya the guy i bought it from is an owner of a shop that buys parts from me, it had a recent tune up and clutch put in it before he let it sit. i figured if the engine could breathe a little easier ie bigger intake and exhaust it would help a little with mileage. plus all the bolt ons will swap over to the d16 minus the mani and TB obviously

All those bolt ons are only going to make you want to drive like a fool and rev higher, therefore getting lower MPG. Drive it for what it is and keep those RPM's low.

you ask for suggestions, you get them, then you dont listen to them. so what was the point of asking if you were going to do your own thing from the start?
