Default As for brake pads, what do you think?

I saw these on the comptech site :Brake Pads, Front - Hot Street (97-01 Type R)
$119.95 "Hot Street: Very high friction levels even at cold temperatures with no dust or squeal. This is the fastest stopping Carbon Kevlar road pad available. Great for limited competition and solo events."

are they worth it or not.

If not, what is worth the 120?

for track - Carbotech P+ or XP, Ferrodo (forgot which model)

give andie an IM or call at http://www.cobaltbrakes.com and he'll set up

For street use on the ITR (and auto- and entry-level track use), the Axxis Ultimate ($92.25) and Ferodo DS2500 ($98.38) are the best choices I offer Cobalt customers. Both of these compounds exhibit extremely high fade resistance (1000F) for a street pad, and have 15-20% improved braking torque over OE Honda compounds.

For track/race use on the ITR, the Ferodo DS3000 has proven itself to be near or at the top of the game, both from in-house testing and customer feedback. The DS3000 for the ITR is $140.40 in the front. I do not recommend this compound for street use as a dedicated street pad, mainly due to cost and noise, etc.

Honda-Tech.com members receive a 10% discount on Axxis Ultimate brake pads, and a 5% discount on Ferodo compounds. If you purchase two sets (front and rear) of the Axxis Ultimate at your regular Honda-Tech.com discount (10%), you will also receive one free bottle of Ate Super Blue Racing or Ate Typ200 brake fluid. This offer is avaiable only to Honda-Tech.com members.

Andie,

How do those pads compare to the AEM pads? And will they work on ice cold days (winter in Northern NY)?

Thank you,
John

Both the Axxis Ultimate and Ferodo DS2500 will handily outperform an AEM brake pad compound in all categories, except for dust level. The Ferodo DS2500 will have the lowest dust level of the two (Ultimate vs. DS2500), but will dust a bit more than the AEM pads. Both the Ultimate and DS2500 have good cold braking performance, but do perform best with at least 100F of heat. The DS2500 will have an edge over the Ultimate in terms of cold-weather performance, though both are safe for cold-weather use.
