Default Tire pressure

Just curious, what would be a suitable tire pressure for a 195/55 Falken ZIEX 912 tire on Enkei PKR? (15x6.5) I checked them a few days after being installed and they were around 35-36 psi. Right now I have them at 36 psi and it seems to be alright. Ty

Ideally you want to go by the placard in the driverside door jamb, should be like 35 front, 33 rear, you can go a little higher or lower, but the pressures on those stickers are specific to the car from the manufacturer, designed to give you the best tire life, ride comfort, handling, and gas mileage. If you change it you will increase or decrease at least one of those characteristics, ie, if you make it say 40psi, you will increase tire wear, make the ride worse, and possibly increase the handling and gas mileage, just an example not a suggestion. I work at a tire shop, usually we go by the placard unless you are running a really small sidewall, like 35 or 30 series then we bump it up alot, to avoid wheel bends.

oops forgot this is the accord section I believe the door placard should read either 32, 32 or 32, 30

Yeah for a CD5 it's 32/32. Alright thanks, but isn't the placard psi reading only for oem tires? 32 seems like it would be a bit soft with a lower profile tire. Around here there are tons of nasty potholes :/

The factory placard psi is a compromise of tire wear/NVH/mileage. Different tire makes/models can require different pressures to wear correctly on a given vehicle.

Raising the pressure can increase MPG, but it also increases NVH, and if too much increases tire wear. Decreasing will decrease NVH, but handling, mileage and tire wear will suffer.

You can start off by using the factory rating. The best way to do this is when the cars tires are stone cold, measure the psi. Not when they have been driven on, or been sitting in the sun all day. First thing in the morning before any heat is induced into them, measure them.

For max tire life, you want the tires to wear square. If they are wearing on the edges either the tires are under inflated, or you like to drive sportingly.
If the tire is wearing only in the center then it is overinflated.

You have to find that happy medium by watching your pressures, and seeing how the tires are wearing. Front to rear the tire pressures may not be the same for optimum wear.

I run 35psi in both my 195/65/15 Bridgestone Turanza w/ Serenity and 225/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions. I've been happy with it.

Well there seems to be no sign of uneven wear (2nd year running these) so I think I'll keep it around mid thirties. Thanks for the advice Mike. 35 seems good, I'm curious to see what other ppl have their psi at for non oem rims and tires.
