Icon2 New battery - what brand?

Hello guys!

My battery is gone.
What are the specs of my battery, I didn't find it in the owner's manual?
I have to buy new asap, what brand do you suggest?

I found one topic here, guys suggest Optima Red top?
But what the specs should be.

Thanks in advance!

Just go to an auto parts store such as Advance Auto or Autozone. I would probably prefer Autozone because if you're traveling, all the stores link up so it would be less of a hassle to pull up your information for the warranty if your battery goes bad. NOTICE: after your battery warranty goes out, a lot of employees would sell you a new battery off from the shelf price. That's why you ask for a PRO-RATE. It is the deduction from the life of your old battery plus the new battery that you're going to purchase. That way you'll save some money.

Optima Red Top is great. Mine lasted 8 years before I sold the car. I would definitely reccomend them over any other brand, plus you can mount them at any angle and they won't leak. Definitely a superior product, but they do cost more.

OEM honda 100 month battery is good. Cheaper than the Duralast Gold. If not Advance has good batteries too.

Optmima Yellow top is in the same price range, and I believe the 51R is the one you need. The difference between the Yellow and Red Top is that the Yellow is a true deep-cycle battery; you may not need it, but it will never let you down. You can find them under $180 shipped on ebay

Honda OEM's are great. Not too expensive if you call around to various dealers, sometimes they run specials on them.

Thanks a lot guys!
I'll check the OEM Honda too.
Yeah, I read about Optima Yellow that is very durable concerning cycling capability or rechargeability.
I'll probably go the OEM which I supposed will be cheaper.

Are you stock? What are your future goals? Do you have a stereo system installed?

I have always been a big fan of Optimas Yellow Top batteries. I bought one for my DSM around 10 years ago and it was still going strong in my Subaru SVX when I sold it 3 years ago. It had seen a rough life, parked for months, hot temps and all, and still cranked hard.

With that said... it seems like Optima no longer makes their batteries like they used to. I've read this on multiple online Forums but I ignored the warnings and upgraded my Hatch to a Yellow Top last summer based on my previous experience. The battery died on me last month. Thankfully, it was replaced under warranty. I have a couple of years left in the warranty, let's see how she does during this period.

If I could go back, I'd look into an Odyssey and save weight while I am at it.
That's why I am asking you what your goals are.

Good luck either way.

The car is stock.
I'll keep it stock, there is no reason to built or something because is LX.
I don't have stereo yet, I might get one later, but not sure. I don't need it, just for the girls my get one.

Thanks for the info on Optima Yellow. I see you live in the south and I'm curious how much will last here where the temp. drops to 5°F in the winter.

I called Honda and I'm going to get their OEM 100 month battery for $93 (before taxes).

Honda doesn't make batteries, the OEM Honda batteries are Interstate with a Honda sticker on it. for eg/ek you need the 500cca OEM battery.

Just an fyi, the 100 month guarantee is prorated. 100% coverage for 36 months, from there on it drops by 10% every 6-8 months or so. They should have a chart they give you when you buy your battery at the dealership.

Still OEM is better than 150 bones for a optima imo

Optima Yellow or Intersate.

Optima Yellow saved me MANY times with my POS Talon.

Interstate has been starting and driving my Del Sol (The S Model) without a alternator for over 500km.

Honda OEM's are great.
My original lasted 8 years, FWIW (2K Coupe purchased in early 2001). Replaced with OEM.
