Loud tire noise after swapping wheels
Hey guys,
I recently swapped over my winter wheels for the summer ones. Following this I immediately noticed that my summer wheels have very, very loud road noise.
The tires are 205/45/16 g-force sports. I realize that wider low-pro tires will be louder than stock size winter tires, but it does not seem normal. I've had a few other cars with 205/45/16s and they were never this loud. I had my wheels balanced and it did not help. Driving at low speeds I can just hear them howling like they're 40 inch mud tires. They have good tread still.
Any suggestions? Would switching to a 195/50/16 tire help?

I believe the previous owner stored them is his garage on their side. I bought the car this past October when the winter tires were already on, so he just gave them to me and I did the same.
< has bfg g-force sports.
they are loud. not mud truck loud like you say, since that is just not possible without having a chopped/feathered tire. but if you have been driving around on some nice, quiet, docile high-profile low-performance all-season and went to 205/45/16 g-force sports then i'll bet you pulled a couple feet out of the garage and thought all four wheel bearings are suddenly shot.
you'll get used to it
btw, i have been more than pleased with the g-force sport since my own personal introduction to them in '06. the g-force sport comp2 is the update and will be my next set.
