A/c recharge problem in 90 DA
When I bought my car the previous owner said that the ac worked but started to leak. He showed me the leak and it was a hose. I replaced the hose easy fix. I bought the r12 to r134a conversion kit. Somy problem is the ac compresser will not turn on. I checked continuity of the switch wich is fine I checked for power at the ac and its there. Now while searching I read that if the ac lines are empty like mine that the ac will not turn on due to that fact, like a fail safe. If this is true can I bypass this fail safe andmanually turn onthe ac?
Yes, you can jump the pressure switch, or supply power directly to the compressor coil, either way DO NOT run the compressor more then a few sec., lubrication for the comp. is the oil that is put in along with the refrigerant.
Did the "retrofit kit" come with a new filter/dryer, if not get one.
Also when retrofitting an R12 system to the new R134a system the system needs to be flushed out to remove the mineral oil, replace with Ester oil, [5oz] and the R134a charge will be 80%-90% of the R12 charge, [34oz]. 94
