Default Time for new HPDE Pad: HT-10 or XP-8?

First let me lay out all the info.

Usage: HPDE and travel to the track and back, will swap OEM pads for street driving
Weight: 2600 lbs w/ driver
Brakes: Stock ITR rotors, Spoon Calipers, Braided lines, Motul Fluid
Tires: 225-45-15 RS3 (not moving to R-comps for the foreseeable future)
Suspension: Koni 8041 Race 700F/900R

I have been using Axxis Ultimates front and rear for the past 13 track days and used them on the street as well. I don't want to go too aggressive. I feel like even with Axxis Ultimates the car was stopping very well for my driving style (AKA slow) and did not experience fade.

I am an intermediate level HPDE driver and don't really feel the need to squeeze every last ounce of braking ability out of the car with PF01's etc. The important thing for me is consistent and predictable, won't eat rotors, non-corrosive dust, and able to do minimal amount of street driving safely to the track and back.

After doing a couple hours of research I am moving toward HT-10 or XP-8, but have never tried them personally so I don't know how they will differ. Open to other pad suggestions as well. Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Ken

If the Axxis Ultimates worked... why not continue to use that pad? You think the Ultimates are too aggressive or am I reading it wrong? I have them on the R and I think they stop well but if I had stickier tires such as even RS3's I would want more out of my brakes. I'm actually switching to Stoptech pads which are good until 1200 degrees rather than 900 degrees that the Ultimates have. Just switching them up to see how I like them for compassion.

No I do not feel the Ultimates are too aggressive. I feel like I can go a step up since I am starting to brake deeper. I do not feel like I need to go crazy with the pad and I did consider using them again, but I guess I wanted to try out something else just to see if I like something better.

HT-10 is a great pad, geared more toward autox the way they bite in my opinion.

They eat rotors.

I have run axxis ULTs and was not impressed, they melted at Sebring my first time there.

I think if you are happy with them keep pushing until you find their limit. Im a big Hawk person so I would run a Hawk product myself like HP+ etc.

HT-10 was very good but they do eat rotors which you were not interested in. Im excited to tryout my new Hawk DTC-70s and my wilwoods but Im not just doing HPDEs anymore so the HT-10s had to go.

The XP8 is a great pad overall. I use them on the rear of my S2000 with XP10s up front....although, I have pretty much outgrown that setup. The nice thing about carbotech is that the dust is non-corrosive. However, it still crusts up on the rim if you don't clean it off in time. I didn't clean it off in time because I'm a bad person and now my ADVAN RG2s have brake dust crust on them. Whatever. Problem with Carbotechs is cost. They're pricey...but the modulation is VERY good, IMO. They have a really nice, linear feel...and again, they last a long time. Great overall pad. Just make sure you buy a set of dedicated rotors for these pads.

The Hawk HP+ front and HPS rear is what I use on my ITR. They work REALLY well for my R. It's full weight (AC/PS intact, full interior intact) and I have 225/45/15 RS3s up front with 205/50R15 ADVAN AD08 out back. I have never experienced fade, they last forever...and are cheap. The problem is corrosive dust. There's no corrosion or anything on my fenders...just some buildup on the wheels. I never change out the pads for the street on this car...so there's some wheel staining that occurs depending on how well your wheels are finished. My stock wheels stained pretty easy. My RC-G4s resist staining.
