Default OBD2B GS-R intake manifold swap question

I have a 01 GS-R at 48k miles with the stock IAB system. I want to put a Skunk 2 intake manifold on it and get rid of the stock p72 to avoid a check engine light, and have vtec hit at a higher rpm than the GS-R's 4400rpm (its my daily driver). My question is what to do about the ECU . I know that my car has an immobilizer and that if I were to use a USDM p73 i would have to have it programed for my key. I'm pretty sure a JDM p73 would pass emmissions (I live in Arizona) but im not sure if I could run it without a check engine light. What are your guy's thoughts.

what cel are you referring to? I dont know how the immobilizer works in the ecu besides that it works with the key. You wont get a cel on your p72 with that manifold but your low vtec wont do u much good with that ecu either. A jdm p73 would require the same programming as the usdm p73, both being obd2b, right? You could buy a chipped ecu with the immoblizier disabled. I know phearable has that as an option.

Ive got a obd2a p73 on my gsr with iab disabled. No cel. Just mentioning this for reference. Not sure if it helps any.
