Edwin's Coupe new PB followed by transmission case explosion (PICS)
We took a good friends car out to the Wednesday night test and tune at PBIR and made three passes.

First pass of the night was at 28-30 psi in 3rd and 4th gear and wastegate for the launch and 2nd gear. . We had changed a few things as far as launch setup goes, so the 60 ft was down .15 from normal. Unfortunately it cracked the transmission case next pass so we couldn't continue testing.
Overall couldn't believe it went 161mph with such little boost in it.

So next pass we made some changes and went back out. At the line, while holding the car on the antilag and preloading the clutch. The car took a big step forward as if the clutch had been engaged. Something felt weird in the clutch hydraulics so I coasted it after it wouldn't shift into second gear. Got back to the pits, looked over the hydraulics, re bled the clutch and the pedal felt normal again.
Back out for the 3rd pass, we had turned the boost up overall and mid 4th gear, heard a loud pop and FLAMES from behind the car. Instantly killed the key and coasted to the turn off, couldnt see any more flame or smoke but I jump out of the car as soon as I was safetly off the track. Once I jumped out of the car, I catch a strong smell of transmission fluid. Pop the hood and right away noticed huge cracks on the bellhousing and oil EVERYWHERE.
What a night, run a personal best in Edwins coupe followed by destroying a ton of money in transmission parts lol. Thats racing I guess.
Now on to the pictures

that sucks, good news is you have the billet bellhousing option, our VW breaks casing alot and no billet option wich sucks, good luck with build your moving already
Ouch! I wonder if the shift selector bent like that and caused it to engage two gears at once. That's my guess, 2nd and 4th at the same time would be no bueno.

right above the counter shaft bearing you can see a hole in the case, thats was the 1-2 shift fork bore.A crack runs right into that hole. I guess when the case split it cracked that off and engaged two gears furthering the damage. The only thing keeping it all together was the input shaft in the clutch and the axles. It basically all fell apart once it was unbolted.
congrats on the new pb edwin!! i know u been through alot but dont let this discourage u,its part of racing, get it fixed and get back at it the car has alot more left in it!!
Damn! I've never seen anything like this before. That's an expensive pass, hope you guys figure it out. Is that 75w90 Royal Purple?
Edwin...that car looks awesome man! If you get a chance drop me an email and let me know how the dyno went with the new head and how it is behaving with that spring. I'm jealous of your car that looks so nice
