Default Stock Clutch Question

FIRST, I searched, and didnt find what I needed.

My question is, how long did your stock clutch last?

When I was at the track the other day, Instead of breaking the tires loose, the clutch smoked itself. So that tells me it wasnt holding well to begin with. The car is a 99 LS with 31k on the odometer. This has me bothered A LOT!!!!!!! I got the car with 28k on it, and the clutch felt strong as hell, and this was the 2nd time at the track for it. Now when I'm driving daily, I can feel a difference. The clutch engagement point is much higher on the pedal than it used to be.

So, assuming my clutch is gone... whats its gonna cost me for a new one? I have no major power plans any time soon, so a stock one will suffice. I just need the price on the clutch, as I'm going to have Acura replace it when then pull my tranny apart to fix the syncros.

Thanks!!!

Ok, first do not have acura do it unless your under warranty, they will charge you like 1000 for the whole thing. You mine as well go with an aftermarket clutch, besides being able to hold more power, you can abuse them more I love having a firm clutch pedal too... Stock clutch should (or can) last 100,000 miles...

My car is still under full warranty... but I know they wont replace the clutch under warranty. So when I take it in for gears grinding, and they have to pull the tranny off, Im gonna have them install the new clutch!

How much will acura charge me for the clutch and pressure plate?

how stiff do u want it to be?
Stage 1, 2 ,3 , 4, 5 ?
etc. etc.

I recommend you to get a Clutch Master stage2. (they feel nice and light but grip crazy) $300-400 http://www.groupbuycenter.com

ACT is alright but its to stiff! (grips alright) $300-400 http://www.groupbuycenter.com

Exedy Race Clutch is a good buy. not to stiff, grips hard and $265 @ www.coximport.com or http://www.clutchcityonline.com/
or
get a Exedy Stage 3 puck thats as stiff as the ACT stage3 and grips nicer than ACT also.

The OEM clutch from an ITR is a good choice. Going OEM also means less chance of the warranty department using something against you later.

My clutch is at 80k, and still going. I would not go to the dealer unless you have insurance. By the cluth onlie i recommend http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net/
Buy the part there, and have whoever you trust to install it, or do it urself if you can.

I got a Clutchmaster clutch installed about a year ago and I was wondering if anyone call tell me why this happens.

The clutch when it was first installed, and I was breaking it in, grabbled very hard from almost the instant you started to let the pedal rise. After the break in period it still grabbed hard, as long as you didnt really ride the clutch for any period of time. (You had to let it come up almost as quickly as you could without stalling and it grabbed from the start of the pedal rise till the very end without any real catch point; very knumb feel.)

Now it feels like **** unless I just pop it all day long on high revs. It still doesnt really give you the lauch of stock clutch. Like if I'm going about 70 and rev match and then slam it into 3rd, I used to, on the stock clutch, get about a car length on the engagement. With the Clutchmaster It just engages very quickly without any real pull.

Maybe it's me, but if somone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Also how do I reset the ECU on my 95 GSR?

Yeah, it's the price for the ITR stuff I looked up, but the LS disk/pp/bearings are the same exact price.
