Questions on replacing distributor on ZC DOHC?
I've been struggling with my hatch for a few months now and have come to a dead end. The engine had begun to missfire drastically then it went into limp mode. I scoured the web to find answers and finally came to one. The distributor had gone bad. I popped that bad boy off and took a look inside and the infamous red dust was everywhere. So i headed to NAPA and ordered a new one. Here comes the problem. On my old distributor their are two electrical plugs. One is a small circle and the other a larger circle. Now I got the new distributor but the plugs are different. It has the smaller circle plug but instead of a larger circle for the second, it has a square shaped plug. The square plug looks as if it has the same number of connectors but the plug it has to plug into is circular. Anyone have an answer for this?
It should be a 87 88 integra 1.6 that will work. You might be on obd1 which is why you have a round plug?? Go exact color for color when you re pin the connector.

I bought the one for a 88-89 teg and all three bolts line up perfectly.
You need to take the square plug off the new dizzy and replace it with the round plug from the dead dizzy.
De-pinning simply refers to removing the wires from the plugs, with the metal pins still intact, this can usually be accomplished with a small precision screwdriver.
Re-pinning simply means putting the wires/pins into a connector.

When I go to put the new wires into the old terminal is there any particular way i should do it or should i just twist them up?
Wires wont just pull out you need to release a clip type thing on the terminals on each wire but yes that is how you do it.
With that said however I would try to find the right kind of plug for the dizzy and change the one on my wiring harness to match dizzy then if you ever need to replace it again it is plug and play with no changes.

You will use a small screwdriver to move a tab out of the way on the plug, and the wire with the pin attached will slide out intact. Then it's a simple matter of sliding it into the other plug in the right position.
this is the correct way to do it - get the square plug from any 88-91 car with DPFI (CRX DX, Civic DX/LX/STD) or any 88-89 Integra and swap it onto the engine harness - make sure you don't switch the 2 white wires or it won't start - mark the white igniter wire on the engine harness with a black felt tip pen to keep from getting them mixed up - this is where the igniter wires go in the plugs: (NOTE: some aftermarket distributors have a yellow/green wire for the igniter instead of the white)
