ok i recently swapped in a freshly rebuilt (rings, bearings, valves, seals, head gasket, intake and exhaust mani gaskets.) d15b8 block with y8 head

still running on stock ecu and dizzy out of my si till i get the p28, dizzy and jumpers.

its smoking like a hippy at a pot smoking convention.

not losing oil or coolant and still has loads of power.

any advice will help.

 

smoking while idling? smoking while wot? smoking while driving?

 

Also, what color is the smoke? You gotta know what you're burning before you go trying to fix it. Dark gray is most likely fuel, Blue-gray is most likely oil as I recall it. It's been a while since I've dealt with a smokey engine.

its white smoke is coolant
blue smoke running rich
black smoke oil

 

at idles its barely noticeable. driving is barely noticable. anything over 3500 rpm its prettyy bad. its like a grayish blue not whit and not black.

 

Fixed.

 

Maybe you put the rings in wrong

 

if you used Felpro valve stem seals, its easy to mix them up while installing and will burn oil

 

well i ran the **** out of it for awhile. it now only smokes at high rpms. idles clean. still dont understand

 

could it be because i have a vtec head and not running vtec?
