I was wondering would there be any issues with California smog? i bought a JDM motor from Attarco, and will switch out the intake manifold and sensors for US smog ..
Does the crank have a sensor? will i have to replace the oil pump in case it does.
anyone run into these problems or have any expertise with this kinda "potential problems."
if it would pass smog just fine without replacing the pump then i'm gonna do the swap this weekend. thx much

Sensors are the same. You will have to change the intake manifold as you said. The crank position sensors sits behind the crankshaft pulley and the JDM most likely will not have it but you can swap it over form your old engine. You may have to use your own wiring harness and not the one that came with the engine you bought. You shouldn't have any smog issues since it will look stock and you are running your USDM ECU. Let us know if you run into any problems, I just did a similar swap and it's fresh on my mind.
I'm not sure about jdm engines and smog. All I know is as long as you have a cat and everything looks as it should you may be ok. However, I was told if it does not look stock, then you will need to visit the state appointed ref for your area and they will determine if it can be bar'd. One example, if your car did not come with vtec, but the newer engine has it, the wire to the vtec solenoid has to be a part of the harness. Meaning to say, if it was mickey moused, its a no go.

thx guys, all i'm worried about is the crank sensor...
i really don't want to go smog and then the smog computer will reject or might even throw a code..
i remember reading somewhere a while back about jdm obd 2's and US ob2's with smog not passing because the jdm doesn't have the sensor and the oil pump has to be changed in order for smog to pass.... but ill look into it this weekend. thx
