how much paint for ek coupe??
i have about a half gallon of kirker urathane. already did the bumper. engine bay jambs. think itll be enough for the rest? also im planning on using omni clear over this kirker base. both urathane think thatll be a problem?
Kirker base (unless you have the low-VOC version) is a single stage paint. This means it technically does not need a clearcoat. That being said, a basecoat can definitely enhance the shine and durability. There are special steps for clearing over a single stage.
That being said, I'd order another quart of the stuff. It is all pre-mixed colors anyway and it is good to have some on hand if you run out. Nothing worse than running out of paint halfway through a job.
Do you have primer down? I find I use less paint covering a solid primer color than trying to cover a ragtag assortment of different colored paints and bondo and ect.
What gun are you using? A good HVLP gun shouldn't have trouble painting most of a shell with half a gallon (NOT half a SHOOTABLE gallon, half an UNMIXED gallon). That being said, a good HVLP gun should not have taken half a gallon to jam, bay and do your bumper.
